Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and maintain event-driven, serverless backend services that power our platform. Partnering with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll leverage AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, and modern frameworks to ensure our systems are not only scalable and reliable, but also fully integrated with global APIs, IoT connectivity networks, and cutting-edge AI solutions. Through hands-on experimentation with AI tools, data pipelines, and automation, you’ll drive business outcomes, streamline operations, and shape the future of our global, data-driven infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Go (or another language supported by AWS Lambda Functions).
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement robust, event-driven solutions.
• Deploy and manage services using AWS Serverless frameworks, integrating AWS EventBridge and RabbitMQ for event queuing.
• Ensure optimal database performance with PostgreSQL and manage pub/sub systems with Redis.
• Integrate with global APIs, support IoT data pipelines, and work within global IoT connectivity networks.
• Manage feature configurations using ConfigCat and SMS communications through Twilio.
• Implement secure authentication flows with Auth0.
• Experiment with AI tools (LLM APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Hugging Face) and explore automation (including AI-generated content or code) for enhanced workflows and business outcomes.

What You Bring:

• Strong proficiency in Go (or another AWS Lambda-compatible language) for backend development.
• Proven experience with AWS, particularly serverless services, and event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS EventBridge, RabbitMQ).
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL for database management and Redis for caching, notifications, and pub/sub.
• Understanding of IoT data handling, global connectivity networks, and integrating with diverse external APIs.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Hugging Face) and the ability to fine-tune model parameters (temperature, token limits) for specific use cases.
• Experience with AI workflows and pipelines, including chaining API calls (e.g., LangChain), data preprocessing, and embedding techniques for search or conversational AI.
• Prompt engineering expertise to craft efficient prompts and optimize prompt-based outputs for various business applications.
• Data engineering experience: managing data pipelines for training/fine-tuning LLMs, and using vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) for storing/retrieving embeddings.
• Proficiency with ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources, enabling AI-driven insights.
• Hands-on DevOps experience: setting up CI/CD pipelines, using monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack), and optimizing API usage for cost management (especially with token-based LLM pricing).
• Excellent self-organization, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with Mixpanel for analytics.
• Experience with ConfigCat for configuration management.
• Knowledge of Twilio for SMS integrations.
• Understanding of authentication systems like Auth0.
• Background in transportation or supply chain industries.
• Passion for applying AI to optimize workflows and achieve strategic business goals.
